Panchanan Mohanty
Panchanan Mohanty is a professor of applied linguistics in the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies at the University of Hyderabad in India.
==Early life and education==
Born and raised in a village in Balasore district in the Indian state of Odisha, Mohanty studied both literature (at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, India), and linguistics at the University of Delhi, Delhi, India.
After a brief stint at the Orissa Educational Service and Berhampur University, he joined the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies at the University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad (India) in 1990.
He has been a professor of Applied linguistics in the same center since 1998 where he teaches various subjects in linguistics and applied linguistics, and published more than 100 papers in journals like ''General Linguistics, Language Policy, Language Problems and Language Planning, Journal of Professional and Academic English, Mother Tongue, Indian Linguistics, International Journal of Dravidian Linguistics, Indian Journal of Linguistics'', etc. and in different anthologies published from India and abroad on Language teaching, Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics, Ethnolinguistics, Translation studies, Computational linguistics, quantitative linguistics besides phonology and morphology that were the subjects of his doctoral thesis.
